Free Screening of The Landlord in Chicago

On Sunday, December 13th at 5pm there will be a free 21+ showing of The Landlord at The Bottom Lounge. In celebration of the event there will be 2 drink specialss named “The Rabisu” and “The Landlord.” I know one of the actors and co-producers of the film, Dan Kiggins, so absolutely suggest you check this out if you have the opportunity! So many events in Chicago, I really need to make more time to get to them all!

What’s It About?

The Landlord is the story of Tyler, the unfortunate young owner of a demon-haunted apartment building. While finding tenants has never been a problem for Tyler, keeping them alive long enough to pay rent is. No matter how nicely Tyler asks, he cannot keep the demons from eating the renters (nor even persuade them to wait a month or two). The demons never listen. And why should they? They have an all-you-can-eat buffet of delicious human flesh and Tyler as their pet monkey. But all that might change when Tyler takes a liking to the newest tenant, a desperate young woman running from demons of her own.

Filmed in Chicago on nights and weekends, with a shoestring budget and a volunteer cast and crew, The Landlord exceeds the usual no-budget expectations thanks to a smart screenplay, surprisingly good CG effects, and impressive performances from some of Chicago’s top stage actors. With its mix of gore and dark, deadpan humor, comparisons to Shaun of the Dead and The Frighteners are inevitable. By turns hilarious and disturbing, The Landlord is a quirky standout in an independent horror scene glutted with backyard zombie flicks and cookie-cutter slashers.

You can find directions to the screening at The Bottom Lounge’s Website!
