My Week In Review 08/20/10

End Of The Week Roundup: 08/20/10

I’m pretty sure that the above thought is similar to what goes through Leah’s mind anytime I’m vague about knowing how to do something that she doesn’t think I know or when I hang out with friends. *grins* Oh what a week of cleaning, organizing, straightening stuff out, the house is almost complete! Well for now at any rate.

Life

  • Dinner with James and Jenni, mmm Sushi
  • Moved around the couch layout in the living room, much more full of awesome now
  • Went to see a dog named Charlie who I am allergic to. He’s probably going to be the most zen dog we run across too…
  • Put together The Desk and setup my desktop and the office
  • Leah discovered the iPod Touch and apps for it – I don’t think I’m getting it back until she gets an Android or iPhone
  • Soooo much cleaning and last minute setting up of the house for the House Warming party this weekend

Projects

Media

  • I’ve re-watched a ton of science fiction this week. Basically the Star Wars trilogy, Star Trek (remake), and Starship Troopers. Sci-Fi is apparently great background noise to cleaning! I have to say though I did get some Indiana Jones in while putting together the desk as well
  • Started watching Flash Forward, the first 3 episodes are captivating! I can only hope the rest of the season is this good!

My Writing

An Assortment Of Underachieving At-Ats

An Assortment Of Underachieving At-Ats

I don’t know why but for some reason: maybe it’s the title, maybe it’s the images… all I can do is picture a bunch of AT-AT’s running around to the Benny Hill show theme music. Could be I’ve finally lost it and in my search for humor to not snap while working in a Help Desk that I actually have lost what little was left of my mind. All I know is that today has been an extremely long day and it’s not even 1 yet. Complaining aside I figured Star Wars fans would get a kick out of this one.

Happy Star Wars Day – 13 Fun Shirts

Happy Star Wars Day – Shirt Edition

Wiki:

May 4 is called Star Wars Day (also sometimes known as Luke Skywalker Day) because of a pun on the similarity between “May the 4th be with you” and “May the Force be with you”, a phrase often spoken in the Star Wars movies.

To celebrate such a fine occasion I decided to make a quick list of 13 of the more interesting original takes on Star Wars in shirt form that are out there. I know I’m missing quite a few but these are the favorites from some of the sites that I frequent!

Darth Vader made out of Space Invaders on a shirt? Geeks everywhere win – Ript Apparel. This one is ONLY available today and actually what gave me the idea in the first place.

Star Sabers shirt available at Threadless.

Glow in the dark LifeSaver shirt for those who want a ‘green’ lightsaber *groans* Available at Threadless

“When You Think About It, All Galaxies Are Far, Far, Away” Available at Threadless

A nursery rhyme from the dark side. Available from Split Reason

Don’t give the darkside a dramatic edge! With the new Lightsaber Glove Holster, your saber is guaranteed to stay fixed in your palm right where it belongs, or your money back! Available from Split Reason.

We will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy our Jedi brother. Available at Split Reason

The Run R2 Hoody shows what happens when everyone’s “favorite” robot is chased by something a little larger. Available at Split Reason

What would you do with the power? We feel a breeze in the Force. Available at Split Reason

“Though you may not have that light sabre to whip out anytime someone misjudges you as emo, at least you can now point to this t-shirt and get some serious geek cred” I’m not sure how much I agree with that but sure we’ll run with it! Available at Split Reason

R6 was one lazy bastard, though he did have a good excuse. Available at Split Reason.

There was a lot of legal debate if it was Han or Greedo who shot first.. Available at Think Geek

The Empire strikes back, but they sure don’t design space-stations well. Available at Busted Tees

When Han Solo Realizes The Brother-Sister Thing

Seriously Look At His Facial Expression

2 Posts in a day? Couldn’t be helped!

It’s absolutely amazing how a single inserted flashback scene can make this entire memorable Star Wars scene both 20x more disturbing and humorous. I mean just look at his facial expression right before AND after the flashback. Hilarious.

Minimalist Star Wars Travel Posters

Minimalist Star Wars Travel Posters

I have to admit that while I enjoy the Minimalist style it’s not the first thing that I would imagine when going for Star Wars posters. These though absolutely work. I’m actually curious as to Justin’s take on a few of the planets from the Dune universe.

Now that would be extremely entertaining to see. (Also it would cheer me up since there is now a rumor that the new Dune film will be in 3D. Why. WHY?!)

Yes A Storm Trooper

I don’t even need to comment. I was just dying from laughing. He even put a headset on over the storm trooper hood!

A Star Wars AT-ST Was Fun… For Halloween?!

How Do You Sit In This?

So this gets my personal favorite for a non-female costume so far. I mean Star Wars has been kind of done to death before but how often have you seen someone dress up as an AT-ST for Halloween? This is just a stroke of genius and there isn’t going to be much better out there (Unless of course the pilot was a sexy little woman wearing a whole lot of not too much underneath. Clearly that would be better, but what doesn’t that make better?.)

What to take away from this? First off.. stilts – making giant robot costumes that much better. Secondly.. women wearing next to nothing or skin tight clothing are always better. At least that was the case until I saw this one:

I’ll be honest. That one does nothing for me. That AT-ST costume though? Awesome.
