Above The Pants Cute Cthulhu Women’s and Kid’s Shirt

This is another Above the Pants first! Actually it’s two firsts! One of which is it’s our first shirt available for only women and children (sorry fellow guys this one was just a bit too cute for us to put out for men.) The second first is that it’s available in either pink or green for the style!

Who says Cthulhu can’t be cute? If he would look like this everyone would answer the call of Cthulhu

Available in a variety of shirt styles for women as well as a few shirt styles AND a bib for kids!

Back In My Day…

Back In My Day…

I don’t mean to bash the homosexual population with this. I’m really just running with the idea that once upon a time vampires (even when sexual) were scary.

(Actually I guess if you are a homophobe the new vampires might be even scarier….)

Days of the Living Dead: Season 2 Looking For Funding

Days of the Living Dead: Season 2 Looking For Funding

We’re plunging headfirst into Season 2 of our haunted house docu- reality web series: Days of the Living Dead. What we’re attempting could possibly be filmmaking suicide but we want to shoot and edit this show in basically 2 months. And in order to do it we need your help!

HAUNTED HOUSE DOCU- REALITY SHOW YOU WONDER. . .
That’s right, remember back in high school when there was that group of freaky kids with mohawks or death metal t-shirts? Maybe at your school they were the weirdest weirdos of them all. That’s right: the musical theater kids. Well, if you could imagine a magical world where all these misfits found each other and joined forces to build two of the biggest and most successful haunted houses in the country, then your worst nightmare is reality. With their powers combined they are Zombie Army Productions. Intrigued? Take a sneak peak into their world through our lens of “Days of the Living Dead” a docu- reality web series that follows the incredible antics of Zombie Army throughout this Halloween season.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:
The Kickstarter fundraising campaign will allow us to pay a warrior editor willing to sacrifice their entire month of October to editing this show around the clock. Considering it usually takes about 3-7 years to produce and edit a documentary we’re ambitious when we say we’d like to shoot and edit this show all during the Halloween season. We’d also like to afford additional camera equipment to allow us to get great footage inside the haunted houses as well as afford a halfway decent website and some better motion graphics for the show.

WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT (except for warm fuzzies)
In exchange for your generous pledges we’d like to sell you some merch! Because we will be so busy producing a show for you guys we plan to ship all of these t shirts, dvds, and posters out as Christmas presents, unless we can find a Halloween elf to help us get them to you sooner!

REMEMBER: KICKSTARTER IS ALL OR NOTHING!
This is go big or go home time and we plan to go big with this web show, this campaign, and this Halloween season! Translated this means that if we come up just a dollar short of our fundraising goal we wont receive a dime and then the show will go on of course, but it will suffer, which will be a crying shame.
However, the bigger we go, the better the show and hopefully with enough of your help we might even go above and beyond the goal we’ve set for ourselves, and since we are obviously over achievers, we pledge that your Christmas gifts will be individually wrapped in awesome zombie paper and and black bows!

FOLLOW THE SAGA!
Days of the Living Dead will launch in early September, and if all goes according to plan Episode 1 will drop BEFORE our funding deadline is over which means instant gratification for you guys. Please keep tabs on us via facebook and twitter since we update daily and you can truly get down in the trenches with us as this production unfolds!

What Am I Doing Tonight? “An Evening with Laurell K. Hamilton”

What Am I Doing Tonight? “An Evening with Laurell K. Hamilton”

To celebrate the release of her latest Anita Blake novel, Bullet, Laurell K. Hamilton is travelling the country to celebrate it’s release. Guess where the first event is? Chicago baby. So tonight Leah and I will be heading over to the Music Box for a few hours to listen to Laurell talk about… whatever she feels like talking about (probably Anita Blake, the series, the latest novel, and possibly her Meredith Gentry series as well) and doing a Q&A with the audience. Leah got me into Anita Blake originally 10 years ago so we’re lucky to be able to hit this one up as it should be a ton of fun.

How To Tell Jesus from Monsters

How To Tell Jesus from Monsters

(As usual click the image for a larger version)

A lot of people have problems with the undead. There are so many ways people have been brought back to life that it can be difficult to figure out how they overlap so someone (and I really wish I knew who) came up with this great little venn diagram to let us know how to tell apart: Dracula, Frankenstein, Zombies, and Jesus on how they came back to life.

Heh.

A Couple Projects Went Live…

Zombie Base and Horror Base Launch

I’ve been wanting to setup a few News Aggregator sites for awhile now both as projects for personal use and for people who share the same interests. There are quite a few kinds of ways to setup news aggregation and the format I am going with on these sites is to show where the news is coming from (site name) with the latest 10 posts that each of these sites have made.

While I do plan on having a few more of these launch in the future the first two I have put up (still a few tweaks to do on them) are:

  • Zombie Base – Which is a site that focuses purely on zombie news from the major zombie news sites online.
  • Horror Base – Which is a site that focuses purely on the major horror news sites to show you the latest horror happenings from around the web.

While Zombie Base has been up for awhile now it was in a very basic form and didn’t look visually appealing until Byron was able to work his magic on it. Now that the re-vamp is up though I can actually advertise the sites as being something that could be a resource to both horror bloggers and fans alike! Based on the assumption that like me RSS feeds and subscriptions can be annoying and loading 30 pages instead of 2 can be annoying.

The next one up will be one focussed on horrors bloggers and possibly a news aggregation site done in a different manner for horror as well. Those two are going to be put back a few weeks though as Byron and I have a much more pressing project to launch next that will be tied into the majority of these sites to help pay for important things… such as food (and hosting costs.) More information coming in the next couple of weeks on where we are going with that one!

Clowns Are People Too…

People Who Want To Hurt You!

…honestly I think it would have been better if that last bit was “People Who Want To Eat You!” but I guess that could just be me. Seriously though I don’t see why clowns freak people out so much. I mean aside from John Wayne Gacy is there any real reason to be afraid of clowns? This entire post came from a conversation I was having earlier with someone who was talking about how evil clowns were and I decided to play devil’s advocate. Really though I mean look at these fine upstanding citizens of society:

Afraid of the dark? Clearly this clown is here to help guard your room while you sleep! He just wants to sit at the end of your bed and stay awake, all night, watching you.

Even clowns get sad sometimes… How can you be afraid of someone who looks so lonely? That’s just mean to kick someone when their down like that. Do you think he would be doing anything bad to you if you were having a bad day?

Look how happy he is that he was able to bring meat over for dinner! What a good guy! How can you turn away someone whose bringing over the BBQ? In fact he looks like he’s brought enough so you’ll have leftovers.

All he wants to do is offer you some pie. Everyone likes pie! I think he’s actually bringing over desert to go with the BBQ from the previous clown!

While you may argue that the last one could in fact be hitting on an underaged girl and thus being an inappropriate image it’s clear all he’s asking for his a hug.

Really I think this whole clown situation is clearly being over-exaggerated. So until next time folks.. Bye!

(Note: In reality.. much like everyone else.. I hate clowns.)

May Is Zombie Awareness Month

According to The Zombie Research Society May is Zombie Awareness Month. This has been deemed the case due to Night of the Living Dead having been released in May of 1968 which is truly the film that launched the zombie genre into what it has become today. While NOTLD was of course the catalyst of what would become the zombie craze that has swept horror fans everywhere it should also be noted that the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead also was released in May.

So why not October as so much else occurs around that time? Well ZRS explains that as well!

Despite common misconceptions, zombies – and the threat they represent – are not connected with the late October pagan tradition of Halloween. Witches, ghouls and vampires, all Halloween staples, are otherworldly creatures of old, filled with mysticism and superstition.

Zombies, on the other hand, are biological entities, made of flesh and blood, and functioning under the same laws of science and reason that all worldly beings must.

So this is a month of celebration full of zombie greatness everywhere the eye can see. Well of course if you follow my site you know I’d just say every day is full of zombie greatness over at (shameless plug) Buy Zombie! So what am I doing to celebrate Zombie Awareness Month? Absolutely nothing!

There are now, I want to say, 5 zombie awareness days/months at this point. Sadly none of them want to get together and standardize it which is the only way any of this will get anywhere at it’s current rate. It’s crawling far too slowly (much like one of the undead with one of their legs cut off) and can’t build up enough steam to fully catch on. In a few years it’s quite possible one of them will get somewhere but until there is a unified front against the hordes of bloodthirsty people who don’t think there’s a reason to support a zombie day (or month) it just won’t be able to cut it.

10 Minimalist Science Fiction And Horror Posters

10 Amazing Minimalist Movie Posters By Travis Pitts

Travis Pitts has put together some absolutely amazing posters for sale of classic movies. The theme was to take a few movies that everyone would recognize and make them minimalist themed and in some cases foreign movie posters.

Each of these are truly an amazing work of art and I’ll admit it the science fiction ones are what sold me. I love the Alien, Terminator, and Predator ones the most of each of these. I really am a sucker for this minimalist style that is so popular right now. (Hell I’ve done a great job and not posting of them recently!)
