WARNING: If you have NOT watched the show and plan to do NOT watch this video until after.

First off this is not real. However it’s a damn funny 16bit version of what Battlestar Galatica would have looked like as a Role Playing Game. They do poke a little fun at the plot holes in the series (almost to the point of annoyance, I did love the show) but it’s done so hilariously (for the most part.)

If you loved BSG as much as I did you should check this out for a laugh. If you were frustrated with the series you should check this out for a laugh. If you hated where they went at any point you’ll relate to the video. It’s all 4 seasons, each one minute long, poking at the fun of all of the problems with the show.

I love how they did the soundtrack.

To be honest I wasn’t looking for anything Battlestar Galactica related today. In fact I wasn’t even looking for science fiction. I was sitting at work earlier, trying to find a new shirt to feature on Buy Zombie. Split Reason is a great site and I haven’t checked them out for awhile so I decided to take a gander and see if they had something zombie related. While they did not have something recent they had something that stuck out today. The Starbucks Freshly Ground Cylon shirt!

So I’m sitting here on the couch. Getting ready to rub Leah’s feet and take a break from staring at a computer screen for a few minutes trying to decide what to write that anyone who reads this site may be interested in. Nothing big’s been going on and out of the blue I remembered this shirt. Once it came to mind I knew I had no choice but to show it off since quite a few readers of my site fall into the science fiction fan category. (Horror, Science Fiction, Writing, Social Media, Web apps, Random Humor, Dog Pictures, Stu Stalking. Really aside from those why would you be here?) That being said this is now one of, it not, my favorite BSG shirt out there! Enjoy!

End Of The Week Roundup: 12/10/10

It’s December and Winter has officially hit us with snow. I’m kind of afraid to say it hasn’t been that bad so far but for a Chicago winter it’s been pretty light. Of course we’re supposed to get 5-6 inches Saturday night so I may be speaking too soon!

Life

• Leah took our doggy in for X-Rays
• We had dinner with my parents at Franchesca’s
• We also had dinner with Megan and Jason at Blue Ginger
• Unexciting I got my snow tires on as to not, well, die by just pulling out of the driveway (true story: I almost did!)
• We had mice, 5 are dead, this may have taken care of them all but only time shall tell (so far it’s looking that sacrificing the 5 mice we caught to the garbage can Gods mixed with filling in holes with steel wool have taken care of the problem)
• Other then that Leah and I have been trying to fit in relax time as most of her week has been openings or closes

Projects

• Changed the back end layout of how Above the Pants works
• Added a blog to Above the Pants with Twitter and WordPress integration
• Installed WordBooker as our Facebook plugin integration for Above the Pants and I think I’m going to be porting it over to both this blog as well as Buy Zombie
• Started brainstorming a new Zombie themed idea with Byron

This Makes me feel bad on so many levels

I really wish I could say that this is a major accomplishment for geekdom everywhere. I want to gush at how cool this is and that my inner child is geeking out and loving all 3 of these images. I really wish I could type these things and more and be honest about it. If I really felt that way I could live with the shame of knowing that I would receive endless harassment from both my girlfriend, friends, online friends, and strangers alike and be secure in the fact that it’s still cool dammit! … But really this one makes even me cringe. If it wasn’t Battlestar Galactica related and from another sci-fi franchise I wouldn’t even be posting it. If I wasn’t still addicted to a show that is now long over there would be something else here today. Unfortunately I have to, with shame, show off this latest Battlestar find and hope you cringe with me in the horror of what has been created based off of such an amazing show.

Battlestar Galactica Composer Bear McCreary plays with Katee Sackhoff “All Along The Watchtower”

OK this is just epic for anyone who followed the series you know the scene this is starting with and already love the music Bear has put together. So here the composer gets to play with Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) and really would have been awesome to see. I’ll do a quick post of what was said on the youtube’s info for the video.

This is exclusive footage that I shot at the Grand Performances Series in Downtown Los Angeles.

Note from Bear McCreary: “Kara Thrace herself, Katee Sackhoff, joined me on stage at the grand piano to play Kara Remembers I played the left hand part, and she plucked out the Final Four Theme, just as she did in the climax of Someone to Watch Over Me. Once we had the Final Four Theme going on the piano, the band snuck in, building to Heeding the Call and finally All Along the Watchtower.

Battlestar Coffee Mug? Yes Please!

This has to single offhandedly be one of the greatest things that Split Reason has come out with so far. On a side note it’s by one of the web comics they do shirts and other things for. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE Battlestar Galactics fan and this fun take on Starbuck’s name being used as both the character and the coffee giant puts a smile on my face.

Battlestar Galactica REBOOT To Happen. Frak.

You may or may not know this but I find Battlestar Galactica to be some of, if not the best science fiction to come out in years. Both standing by itself, as a TV show, or compared to movies. I’ve been following the show since Season 1 and have watched the characters evolve through an epic tale of… well there are so many issues touched upon. Religion, Spirituality, The Human Soul, Racism, Torture, Growing Up, Family, Love, Lust, Hatred,LIFE.

At any rate. You would think that hearing about more BSG would be good? Of course it would. IF IT WASN’T BEING RESTARTED. Bryan Singer was a god with X-Men 1+2. As far as reboots go? Superman was very disappointing to a LOT of people. Even that not being the case? It’s the cast and story we were JUST told that made BSG such a wonderful universe. Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer(yum,) Grace Park, Katee Sackhoff, Michael Hogan, Aaron Douglas, Tahmoh Penikett, Donnelly Rhodes, Michael Trucco, Richard Hatch, Kate Vernon- without these actors and the rest of the cast there is NO movie to be made.

Whoever thought this was a good idea should honestly be shot. I’m not exaggerating. I take my entertainment seriously and whoever decided restarting what has become such an amazing show as a movie isn’t worth breathing the same air as me. Frak you! So say we all!

Mini Battlestar Galactica Characters Coming Soon!

I know if you follow my life at all you know I’m an addict when it comes to Battlestar Galactica. Even the ending that so many complained about I felt did the series proper justice. These 2 toys coming out are just absolutely amazing. These 2 6-inch tall characters are absolutely amazing and aside from the price tag a must buy! Who knows, I might end up caving and order them when they are actually for sale.
