by Stuart Conover on March 5, 2009

PediaPress was designed with the view that Wikipedia is a valid source of information and many would prefer to do their reading offline. While printing out an article is fine and dandy sometimes you want that personal touch used specially if it is being constantly used as a resource. PediaPress’s goal? To “Combine the advantages of up-to-date and in-depth knowledge with the convenience of printed books. Books are typeset and printed on demand based on your personal selection. Starting from US$ 8.90 you get your unique book and support the Wikimedia Foundation.

The company was originally meant only for the German market but as it has caught on there they are expanding it to multiple other languages including English. It is still testing the waters but has the full lineup of features for those trying it out: You are able to create free .pdf files for your Wikipedia books though the main goal is to sell you on the printed version. Each of these books are able to have a cover, table of contents or list of categories and are bound and typeset for you. The cost is based upon the number of pages that are within the book though is not bad as the basic package includes up to 100 pages at $8.90.
