Well from being ‘slightly’ distracted from last week’s surgery it had completely slipped my mind that today something amazing was set to happen – Eve 6′s Speak In Code was released!
That’s right the band’s first album in years is finally out and I have to say it’s pretty damn good. While I’m still trying to decide favorite tracks (it’s way too damn early) I can already tell there are going to be a slew of songs in here I’m going to like and dislike at different parts of my life to come.
I kind of regretted missing them when they came through Chicago last month though now that I’ve heard the album I’m glad I did. While I’d of course love the classics Eve 6′s lyrics have so much that go through them I don’t feel that I can truly appreciate their songs until I’ve heard them 10+ times each. While I want to see them live again I think not knowing the new songs I wouldn’t have loved the show as much as I know I will the next time they hit the city.
For those who are picking up a physical or digital copy today they do have a ton of shows on their tour for it:

This is going to be my background noise while driving for the next 6 months – easily. Probably for writing/blogging as well but not right away as I’ll probably find it distracting when trying to actually get any writing in
I spent Tuesday having my nose fixed. Not a ‘nose job’ you asshats but I had a deviated septum which is now in the process of healing. The entire week has been spent in bed rest having my far too giving wife take care of me. Leah I love you. Aside from that today’s the first day my mind hasn’t felt like it was swimming through Jello all day only half of the day. I’m kind of surprised I’m even getting a weekly review posted… not that there was much to review.
Life
Leah and I went out with my parents for my Dad’s birthday
Went out with Matt and his friend to see Cabin in the Woods
Had my nose potentially fixed! Hooza
I have learned the joy of making fruit smoothies… due to being unable to eat much else for a couple of days
Projects
I’ll be completely honest – every thing has been on auto pilot I have no idea on any changes
On Buy Zombie I occasionally do a post on advertisements that do zombies. Let’s face it some of them are entertaining and the readers want to see everything zombie. That’s what our focus after all. I try not to post on too many advertisements though as it tends to feel like giving away free advertising that the companies are already paid for that are highly targeted.
Call me greedy but a lot of work goes into Buy Zombie by the entire staff and it’s not really helping pay the bills aside from it’s own hosting costs.
So when I posted this Zombie Skittles Ad I have to say I was very shocked that the marketing company in charge of it reached out to me.
Sure I didn’t get a check for taking the time to make the post but I did get the gift basket above with the extremely strange looking poster that came along with it. Strange poster but hey I like strange and damn it’s pretty neat that they actually reached out with anything at all. From what I can tell my day job has been happily enjoying the Skittles
Well it’s another beautiful week in Chicagoland with an amazing early Spring. Mornings have been a bit chilly but otherwise the days have been pretty great. The nights though? Well let’s just say that having to go off of cold medication for the procedure next week. No cold medication means that I’ve been getting a horrible lack of sleep lately or at least not sleeping well.
Life
Went over to my aunt and uncle’s on Easter and Leah’s parents at night
Sold a few more things on the mighty eBay
Took a state funded class on mortgages to see if I had any options on my condo’s mortgage
Surgery to fix my deviated septum is next week so I’ve been off my cold meds. Sleep has been pretty shitty! wwhheeewww
Projects
Trying out a new book reviewer for Buy Zombie, we may have a new member of the undead loving family
Media
Finished watching Season 2 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars
So apparently all of those Happy Zombie Jesus days I used to wish were wrong. It all makes sense when it’s spelled out like this too. Jesus wasn’t a zombie or a vampire. Just think how so many of us have been wrong for all of this time…
This week seemed to be full of busy work. Chores, work, off hour work, straightening crap out in life, not a lot of fun and downtime aside from Tuesday where I was in super relax mode after work. Still feels like there’s an ever growing mountain of work to get done but at least this last week put a huge dent into a lot of it (specially tax and mortgage stuff) figured out how to approach.
Life
Went out for lunch with my parents
Lots of walking Ali (and she’s been sleeping in our bed a lot. Evil Dog!)
Leah and I started trying out Food On The Table and so far it’s pretty damn awesome
So work was absolutely slammed today meaning I had no time to try to even think about writing this earlier in the day. On the way home was groceries followed by being viciously attacked by my dog with hugs (yes Ali can hug), a wonderful dinner by my beloved Leah, and relaxing right on after.
Life
Leah and I went to New York to visit Reed, Lori, and Paul
There was much walking, eating, and resting
Checked out the Botanical Gardens
Hit up the Chinatown Food Tour which was a blast and tasty
Ali was able to spend the week with Dezi
After returning from New York there was a huge bout of Spring Cleaning in the house
You know it’s probably bad when online marketers start e-mailing you their infographics if they think you may have an interest in posting them. It may mean you post too many instead of actual content. Let’s face it though aside from videos and infographics my personal blog has been rather dry aside from week in review updates. As that’s not about to change and because this is about gamers (which I used to be) and online dating (which I find amusing though I know it seems to work for other people) I felt I’d post this one. If nothing else it’s fun stats and original art on gaming and dating that should prove amusing and/or interesting.
Another week and it’s ridiculously warm in Chicago. I swear the heat is going to kill our overweight dog. I think we maybe should have gotten her a ferminator treatment so she’d lose some of her furriness. A LOT of this week was spent writing to work ahead for the next week and prepping for some downtown time weekend. Mmm downtime.
Life
I’m not sure how but it’s summer in Chicago in March
Leah and I had breakfast and dinner with my parents
Leah and I also finished up sorting thorugh and making a list of my comic collection
Ali got a long overdue wash – dirty dog!
We had dinner with Leah’s parents, Caroline, and Tom
Projects
While I wasn’t going to kick it off quite yet due to how things worked out we ended up starting internally working on Malice Press and the first anthology for it
Fixed an issue with the arcade I’m getting going on Buy Zombie. Won’t be ready next week but should hopefully be ready the week after
