Of Course It Does

Thanks Rex for linking this one over to me. Between the full time job, off hour support, and working on my projects sometimes I feel like this guy. Whenever that happens I grab alcohol as soon as possible so I don’t get this bad. Enough alcohol to blackout so I have plausible deniability for whatever happens. WHATEVER Happens.

Problems Figuring Out What To Eat In The Office?

We have a huge problem at work on Saturdays. We can never decide what to eat. This is usually caused by those of us who go in on lunch together are either half asleep, hung over, distracted by phone calls, or just can’t make decisions about anything in life. (While once upon a time that last option used to plague me- I usually fall into one of the first two.)

From the strips of paper in a bag to flipping a coin we’ve tried it all. Today though through a stroke of brilliance (brought forth by being unable to make a spin wheel as my friend Rose originally suggested) we decided to make a dart board with all of the local food options on it. There are more past this that we are all too sick of or are only sometimes in the mood for that can be swapped or added in.

Seriously. Darts. Perfect idea on letting chance decide our fates on lunch by the flick of the wrist and the throw of the dart. Thank you having too much free time at work.

Note: This is still a rough draft board and we will be filling it in with all of the other restaurants in the area still.

So Rex LOVED the post-it note humor our office did last week….

I predict a fullscale office post-it competition between our 2 offices in the near future! I have to admit I feel a little outdone on the Mario art. His goomba was so much better than our Mario. Click on over right here for the full gallery!

Work for the most part started off slow however we were able to end it with a bang. While I may be responsible for the idea of Mario the rest of this I had absolutely nothing to do with which is hilarious. (I’m still trying to avoid office pranks for some odd reason.. I should really change that..) So.. onto Sal’s cube:

Yes we had far too much time at the office on Friday. Why is is that I’m finding faults in almost every enjoyable movie that I see lately? I had one minor flaw and one annoyance in what should have been a completely spectacular error. In the very beginning of the movie a couple people are watching ‘the last sunset’ before the 30 days of night that is about to begin.. however they than spend a full day with the sun out finishing up the first days activities. Aside from that and a lack of development on the vampires themselves the movie was great. Actions scenes were top notch (specifically one that had a very zombieesque feel to it.) Huge fan of the movie and think it’s worth a see on the big screen if you like vampire and/or action movies.

So after the movie I did NOT go home and play Puzzle Quest until 4:30am making myself entirely too tired trying to wake up today. In the last statement you should remove NOT from it so that it is not a lie.

With such a boring update I figured you needed a laugh if you had taken the time to come to my page today

Ok. As you can all tell by my updates I am one who is ALL for pranks in the office. It’s entertaining. It helps the day go by faster. Overall it’s a good time for all (aside from maybe the person being pranked but just about everyone here can take a joke.)

Theres a line you probably shouldn’t cross though. Anyone who knows about IL (since not all of you are from here or still live here) know that once every 17 years we get a fun filled swarm of Cicada’s! Yes theres giant grasshopper wannabe bugs everywhere that shed their shells and leave them all over the place.

That cup of bug shells is currently on Monica’s desk. I again am slacking on the pranks in the office but this one is a bit much for even me to do to someone. That’s just downright mean. (Though it was funny when it was originally on Sal’s desk and he screamed like a lil girl when he came back from break!) I should probably have moved it off, but far be it from me to spoil someone else’s prank. Just.. wrong. I’m glad I won’t be here Monday when she comes in and thats all I need to say on the subject. Wow is she going to be pissed. As much as I’m laughing theres some pranks I just wouldn’t do to another.

Aside from that I pretty much slacked. I overdid it work wise Friday updating all of my tickets so I decided it was break time. I took maybe 30 calls all day and tried to spend the rest of my time watching Pan’s Labyrinth, Joe brought in 2 movies he had rented that I actually had not seen! That’s a bit odd but I’m not complaining

It is a subtitle’d movie which was a bit of a pain, however since I was at work and on calls it wasn’t that big of a deal. It’s a bit of a modern day fairy tale and was done quite well. The way the artwork and CGI was presented in the movie caused it to have a very dreamlike and surreal feel while still feeling ‘real’ as it were. It was not neccisarily a fairy tale for children though. It was more in line with the original Grimm’s Fairy Tales; lessons taught in a very dark manner. It was a very enjoyable watch if your in the mood for something a bit darker and can stand reading through the whole movie. I am one of the more patient people you will ever meet but honesty I probably wouldn’t have wanted to watch it if I wasn’t stuck at work. Not because it wasn’t enjoyable, it was, there were just certain long stretches combined with being subtitle’d that didn’t do it for me. I liked it. I enjoyed it. I’d recommend it if you were in the mood for the type of movie, if not though, I’d say take a pass.

After work was a bit slow. I ‘ran’ 4 miles (ok I didn’t really run all of it but whatever ), did my weekly straightening of the rooms, and read. It was a nice relaxing night. Sadly not more interesting as work is oh so slow today and I have too much time on my hands which would be perfect for an overly large blog update!

So… another SLOW Friday at work… thats generally bad when you’ve got the night crew working…
So Joe and I got a bit bored… Add in the fact that Sal is horrible at leaving his desk a mess, specifically with paper he balls up as his ‘stress release’ for having quit smoking. It’s just never a good combination. Sorry for the poor quality of the pix. Lighting was horrible in the office

So we made a .. couple.. paper balls and quite literally covered his desk and floor. The little white dots everywhere are paper balls. Heh. Heh heh. He was.. well.. not entertained.. ok maybe that wasn’t the best of pranks to pull.

At any rate.. after work I chilled with Rose for awhile and watched Severance… It was.. interesting. It had it’s moments but it’s not on the buy list thats for sure. It was almost like Office Space meets a horror flick and forgets about office space. I don’t know. It was ok. I laughed at a few parts. It really wasn’t super great though. However while I was chilling there I found out something… 2 of the members of Eve 6 are getting back together to form “The Sugi Tap” … Ok. Now Eve 6 is probably one of my favorite bands of all time. Their songs were and are lyrically AMAZING and ‘mostly’ laid back groves do it for me every summer. I don’t dislike a single track put down by Eve 6. Theres a couple I will occasionally skip but not a single song do I dislike.

Ok.
They have 6 tracks out.. I don’t like. A single. One of them. Pick up the Pieces wasn’t ‘bad’. The rest though. Sigh. This is one of the most depressing things that could have happened. For years I had hoped Eve 6 would somehow get back together and…. I don’t know. I don’t even think they’ll grow on me. I’m very sad about this. If you ever enjoyed Eve 6 (and if you didn’t listen to them you should. right now. if the sun’s out at least.) you will know what I mean. *sighs*

On a side note.. My shirt company Amtrea has gotten another order from the UK. I always feel good getting orders from out of the country. It’s kind of hot really

So what happens when 4 guys are sitting around at work? Bored off their asses with nothing better to do on a slow day? No not call a stripper.. silly.. it’s time to stroll around the warehouse in the back of the building and find something interesting to play with.

Hey now, that seems like it could have some potential to be a fun toy to play with. Now, whatever could we do with this?! Who would it Well last Sunday was April Fools and Rob messed with our boss Ryan so clearly that was a bad idea.. We wouldn’t want to repeat the same thing as last week now would we?

Wait a sec… does that name tag say? No.. now that can’t be right…

Ok so … MAYBE we did end up messing with Ryan. I mean walking to your cube on Monday morning with a giant roll of bubble wrap, with your name on it, quite literally, dressed up with a hat and your sunglasses… HAS to be the way to start the morning, c’mon it surely cheered him up!

So Sunday… Easter… Work is closed.. It’s a holiday… But I just got paid double for Friday being a holiday? Oh look a paid day off that only two of us get.. now thats the life. So I ended up sleeping in followed by finishing off Rescue Me Season 3 at Rose’s (what can I say, now I get to watch S4 weekly when it starts up next month. C’mon 14′th, you can come a bit quicker!) Followed that up by starting up the new TMNT game… I’m going to finish it far too quickly. The only challenge I’ve had so far was a bug I found 3/4ths of the way through a mission with a door that automatically closes…. that I accidentally walked back through before it closed and got stuck.. oops… fun game… but it’ll have shitty replay value, has no co-cop, and is way way too short. A shame.

Monday was uneventful

Tuesday.. soo I started talking to an old friend of mine, ,Sebastien, and we started chatting. Apparently he’s quite good at web development on the coding end of things. We started talking and.. well… we may just have a project to work on More on that if it progresses. Aside from that it was mainly Neil, Rob, and myself bullshitting at work all day with how slow it was. This Tuesday was special though. It maked my new Tuesday 10am start time (early for me on a Tues.) … my weekend starts with me getting out at 6:30 at night now instead of 10:30. I liked it. I liked it a lot. Was able to go home and actually run after work instead of feeling rushed to go out and do something right away. And I’m so glad I didn’t cave to the people who kept saying it won’t snow again get your winter tires off and summer ones on already! *looks outside* yeah .. right
