This Week’s Top 5 Blog Posts

Well this almost didn’t happen today. Not from a lack of posts- there’s a LOT worth reading this week. Not from a lack of motivation, all I really feel like doing is writing today. Not from a lack of time, it’s a slow day so far at work. I think it’s said slowness and what I do have a lack of that almost cause this post to not happen- a lack of sleep.

Off hour support so far has always taken almost the full 2 months of it before it started to kill my sanity. I believe with the combination of lack of sleep and having a light cold that I can’t keep my eyes open. Fortunately for the few hundred hits I do get here daily- The Post Is Here!

1. Michael Dougherty Already Has an End Plan for a ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2′ by: Peter Hall of Horror Squad
Since it’s release this last week Trick ‘r Treat has become the main thing to praise and one of the few horror movies as of late that has been almost universally accepted. So what happens when a movie that has been in production limbo for 2 years and goes straight to DVD? Usually nothing. Of course a straight to DVD release isn’t usually being praised by the majority of the Internet and sells out ON release date? The rumor mill starts up on a sequel and this article has a nice little tidbit of what we may see if a sequel comes to fruition!

2. Visceral Visionaries: Joshua Hoffine by: Brian Solomon of The Vault of Horror
This last week I attended Deathscribe 2009 which was an example of being able to experience horror in an original medium. This week anything that’s ‘different’ in horror is catching my notice. So a photographer that does a lot of his work based original original horror concepts? Have to love it. If you want to see something visually new you need to check this post out. Now.

3. Oh the mini HORROR! The work of Adalberto Abbate. by: Ms. Harker of Musings Across A Continuum
Again with the original horror! 2 posts in a row! While the last was on photography this one is done by horror scenes set out by being sculpted. Another quick view that’s worth it’s weight in gold for the horror fanatics out there!

4. 31 Days of Halloween – Day 8: Top 5 ZombieKillers by: Rick Romanowski of Paradise of Horror.
A top 5 list of zombie killers that I can agree with (aside from the order?) Not that I am known as a zombie fanatic but if I were I would have to recommend this list to other fanatics out there. I may have swapped out #5 for someone else but otherwise the list stands out!

5. 10 Reasons Halloween is better than sex by: Bryan White of Cinema Suicide.
I always try to include some humor when I can for everyone. I believe humor is very important in life (isn’t it odd that as a horror fanatic I believe that, yet hate most comedies that come out?) So with needing humor I’d love to suggest reading over this quick list Bryan put together of his 10 Reasons Halloween is better than sex!

I’m always looking for cool ideas on creating special effects photography and I came across this special effects book by Evan Sharboneau. I was pretty impressed with his how-to instructions on special effects in photography… have a look at my review of his photo special effects book Trick Photography and Special Effects. Evan’s website also has an extensive library with over 50 HD instructional videos.
