From What I’ve Heard This Is The Perfect Ending To Twilight

Now I know there are a LOT of Twilight fans out there. This is for those who aren’t real fans of the whole teen vampire romance angle. I haven’t read the series. Two of my friends have told me I should and quite a few more have told me I shouldn’t. There is a copy sitting at my place gathering dust. Who knows if it will ever be opened. Even if I ever get suckered into reading it I can guarantee I will never be suckered into watching it.

Yes that’s right the perfect ending to Twlight is Blade. Blade bursting on set with sword in hand doing exactly what he does best with vampires. I honestly don’t know where this Photoshop came from but whoever created it- thank you for greatness!

Modern Warfare 2 – Now With Free Candy

I know this was already all over the Internet but how could you not want to talk about what could be the greatest special edition of a game ever? Sure some games have come with art books, movies, bobbleheads, etc. Never before though has a game come with FULLY WORKING NIGHT VISION GOGGLES! The cynic in me tells me this is too good to be true. The quality of the goggles will be horrible, battery life non-existent, visibility just poor. Is the cynic going to stop me from ordering the “Prestige Edition” of Modern Warfare 2 when it comes out? Hell no.

While I’m usually not overly huge on war games the Call of Duty franchise has just felt like the best interface for a first person shooter on a console. It feels natural, is easy to pickup, and the games are just fun. Single or multi-player they are fun. At any rate you either know about the game or aren’t reading this for the game since this is all about the NVG’s!

I wonder if the police would stop me if I was walking around Chicago at night with these on? Of course we all know what the night vision goggles will really be used for…. stalking people at night, driving around with your headlights off and these on, or:

Always Be Prepared!

There are a lot of ways to be prepared for the zombie outbreak. Whoever’s family this is clearly has that in mind! I’m not sure where this picture came from but Dano did send it to me so I have a feeling it may be the illegitimate children that he has spawned across the nation. He is getting them ready. Training them. Prepping them for the war against the undead that is sure to come. To be fully prepared for a zombie outbreak though you can’t just know how to use firearms and have access to them. You need your own Zombie Plan. Be ready and prepared. Where can you hold up? Do you have provisions there or easy access to provisions? You may need to be camped in for weeks or even months before help arrives or until the zombies wander off or die out.

If you need any help, advice, or ideas I highly suggest picking up The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead by: Max Brooks to be fully prepared for ZDay. While that is a great guide you will of course need to keep up on current developments with everything zombie related so make sure to also regularly read BuyZombie as well.

When Free Stuff Goes Wrong!

Recently I won a free shirt from Teenormous. Awesome! Nothing bad with free stuff. But what happens when free isn’t free? The coupon I got didn’t cover the S&H cost of the prize. I wasn’t going to throw a hissy fit about it because what is a bit of s&h? Teenormous though felt that this was wrong. They wanted to make amends. How is a site on shirts going to make amends on a shirt contest where it wasn’t fully free? Why by letting me pick a shirt from one of the other sites involved in the contest!

I was given the option of picking a free shirt from Buzzy Multimedia! While I’m not usually a fan of shirts with just text on them and no graphic (aside from my French Connection shirt that has Lucky Fcuk on the front of it) I did get a kick out of this Good & Evil illusion shirt so went with it right away. I can’t stress enough how great it was that Teenormous took care of me like this. THIS is a company that knows what good PR is and I hope nothing but the best for their site in the future, not everyone would do this or expect there to be much done. Hell I had shrugged it off when I got the e-mail. This just shows how cool they are for taking care of their readers.

Companies That Own Up To Mistakes That Don’t Have To? Winners

Recently I won a contest from Teenormous that allowed me to pick a free shirt from one of the sites that they are associated with. I was e-mailed the coupon code, went to the site, picked a shirt, put in the code, and was ready to go! Well I thought I was until I saw that the coupon didn’t cover S&H. While I know most contests would cover S&H I didn’t think it was a big deal and put the order through. $5 for a shirt is a lot better than $20 so I wasn’t really going to complain.

Teenormous though didn’t feel right about this. They contacted everyone who had picked a shirt through this site and offered us a way to make up for it. While one would think that would just be a S&H coverage they instead offered us a free shirt (with S&H included) from one of the other contest sponsors. So for winning we actually were able to pick 2 shirts instead of 1. THAT is how to have great customer service and get good press at the same time. Thanks Teenormous for taking care of your customers. I was both surprised and impressed with your response to the situation and am overjoyed you went out of your way to take care of your readers. That’s really how to win customer loyalty right there.

BuyZombie Lets Me Score More Free Horror!

I recently ran a mini-article on BuyZombie linking to 3 reviews of a short zombie story. The results of this post? The author of the “The Measure of a Man,” George Willis, sent me a copy of the anthology his short story I wrote about was included in, “Midnight Walk.” Not only is that just cool of George to do in the first place but this particular copy also has 13 of the 14 authors signatures! Score. Now to make sure I do my own review of “The Measure of a Man” for BuyZombie as well. Thank you George!

Jennifer’s Body and True Blood’s Promo Posters

Now I have absolutely no idea how I’ve missed the overkill of commentary that must have happened when the promo poster for Jennifer’s Body hit the Internet. This must have been such a joke when it hit the web and I really have no idea how I missed it. I must have been in a coma that week because the above image really says it all. I feel bad about missing this one because the commentary must have been priceless.

In all honesty how could their marketing department could have missed such a disgustingly similarity between the two. If they didn’t did they think it would be a nod to the franchise? That fans of the show wouldn’t notice? Were they drunk and on a coke binge and had this great idea at 4am? I’m really not sure. I’m just kind of shocked to the point where I am almost stupidly entertained that this happened in the first place. Thank you for making such an ‘original’ choice on marketing. I really do appreciate the laughter!

FREEEEEEEEEdom… Free Tickets At Any Rate

Thanks to Chicago Vampire of the Dark Chicago “network” I was able to score 2 free tickets to a showing this week of Blood: The Last Vampire. They were doing a “giveaway” over Twitter with 50 free 2person passes and I was lucky enough to win one of them. It really has been a good month for all things free. Now… all I can hope is that it doesn’t live up to the reviews it’s been getting. Anything taken from anime and most movies horror related do get panned by reviewers so I can’t fully be prepared to be let down… however if I am, thankfully I’ll have Chicago Vampire to blame! (Kidding!) As Rose or Neil would easily be able to say I’m willing to sit through most movies no matter how bad they can end up.

On a side note, after seeing the trailer- Daybreakers is the current Vampire movie I can’t wait to come out.

Free Promotional Stickers From Sweet Station

I was contacted on BuyZombie about this and while it’s really not the place I can hype non-zombie products or sites I do have both the personal site for that.
