A change of pace could really do some good, she’s leaving.. An empty case but your bringing back for show, I’m leaving now
Well work was entertaining. I got a huge pile of DVD’s from Rob to start off the ones he was burning for me… way way too much to watch/read/play lately… thats a good thing though. After awhile I started in on some EQ… finally catching up on finishing a few things in there that I’ve been putting off due to being so busy. Well a start at them at least. After time went by I was informed that it was a matter of life and death to read the new Anita Blake novel… so I harassed Rob into making sure I could borrow it off him soon. So I should have that by Monday at the latest
In McClane We Trust
After work Neil, Rob, Rose and I hitup Max & Erma’s for some grub and drinks and followed that by Live Free or Die Hard. This is the FIRST movie all summer long I fully expected to walk into and not be let down in any way shape or form. Well here it is. I can’t say that this is THE action movie of the year to see as the new Bourne movie isn’t out quite yet. However, honestly, I highly doubt that it will be better.. that it CAN be better. It’s instantly the second best McClane movie and only second by a sliver and the fact that nostalgia can beat out a new movie no matter how good the action and special effects are. Speaking of both… the action sequences were amazing and looked realistic… it was classic McClane in both blowing things up and doing things by hand. The second movie lately to make a reference of “an analog player in a digital world” yet what he can and is willing to do so far exceeds what the bad guys think is possible. The entire movie is impressive and the plot, as a part time geek, was very fitting. Two thumbs way up.
…and a little bonus treat as it’s the McClane season…

Oh yes and to who it may interest after the movie I dropped Rob off and he loaned me The Harlequin, the new Anita Blake book I mentioned earlier. Mmmmm I so need to start in on it.
This is the Life!

Ok…. I’m a huge fan of old advertisements that today would never see the light of day. Sometimes I stumble across them while browsing the net and get a chuckle… this is a double win though. Not only is this a movie (me? a movie buff? never) and get a kick out of that as well but it’s an ad FOR the movie. Seriously wouldn’t you love to see this as a movie poster hanging on the wall? *snickers*
Put your name on the line.. Along with place and time.. Want to stay, not to go, I want to ditch the logical
Woke up semi-early on Thursday and took care of a few things which I instantly followed by a nap. During the day I vowed to veg out as much as possible as I really just didn’t want to do anything!
So yes the majority of the day was split between 2 things.. first was a LOT of Lego Star Wars.. trying to get the 60% achievement. I was well on my way when I was about to finish my third level of the day and my 360 locked up. Ok… it was a LONG level so I got a tad bit annoyed and decided to call it a night and switch gears. Started in on reading the one of the last Kellerman books I’m on and got about 1/2 way through it. Such a great series. Seriously any of you into suspense/mysteries should pick the entire series up.
After that did the whole drinking thing and met up with Jen, her boyfriend, and some of her friends to see an 80′s cover band, Sixteen Candles, at Bourban Street. They do a really amazing job and the singer gets into it. It’s kind of amusing that she has seen them enough now where they know her. *laughs* It was a good time and as I haven’t seen Jen in a few months and was worth making the trip out there just for that. Finally met her new boyfriend and I have to say I approve. Go her for finding someone worth her time
I’m not sure what was the high point of the night though. Seeing Jen again, seeing Sixteen Candles, drinking, or having fun hanging with one ex while another is making me crack up via text messages
Overall .. good times. Oh how my weekly budget is hurting while I still have to go see Live Free or Die Hard this weekend and probably hitup Bar Louie on Sunday. Poor wallet. Poor poor wallet.
Water Trap!
Not in English but.. heh.. I found it amusing anyway.
You should be careful what you wish for.. Cause everyone of us has the devil inside
So Wed. was beautiful out for the majority of the day. Ok from what I hear it was overcast just about everywhere but for a mile in any direction from my house the sun was shining! Woke up to some laying in the sun followed by a quick run. After awhile I got around to watching the Dead Zone and was able to finish off Season 2. Score. Lot’s of Dead Zone watching *shakes head* 3 more seasons of that… 1 of Hex, 2 of Entourage, 2 of Rome, and the Sopranos… thats about what I have left to watch.. on the one hand thats a lot.. on the other.. not so much.. *shakes head* theres just far far too much TV watching going on as of late!
Aside from a lot of Dead Zone watching it was mainly errands during the middle of the day. As night came up .. well it was a Wed.. so… stopped at work for a couple and than Houlihans it was. Slow night though… Only Neil, Rob, Rose, and myself. Rex, Joe, and Giles all bailed *shakes head* bailers *shakes head again*
We spent the night’s conversation primarily split between movies and random views on various subjects which don’t usually come up… mostly it was movie talk though. Top action heros, top scifi heros, which movies need prequals or squals made.. etc etc etc.. BTW: Houlihans burgers = Yum. Not the mini ones but the actual sized ones.
….yea! that’s it….
The Evolution of Dance
As always on slow days I try to add in something at least a little funny
I woke up in a dream today.. To the cold of the static, and put my cold feet on the floor
You know when slow days happen it’s hard to even want to attempt to write a blog. All you can think of when sitting down to write is.. well shit. What the hell can I put here today? This ladies and gentlemen is one of those days. Work was work… nothing interesting happened really aside from getting some Battlestar in…. aside from that really it was just .. work.
After work I pretty much sat around watching the Dead Zone.
My life is exciting to the EXTREME eh? … yea slow week sorry
Dance, Dance.. And these are the lives you’d love to lead
As I wokeup thinking I had to start at noon I suddently realized I had 20 minutes to get into work.. since… I was thinking about the wrong Monday. Calling in the first words out of my boss’s mouth were quite angrily “Don’t tell me your calling in sick” … I think he was a little confused when I started laughing at him but was quite relieved when I said I was only coming in about 10 minutes late.
Work was pretty much busy all day though I did manage to take the time to install my new memory in the laptop. Mmm 2 gig of RAMmy goodness. My laptop is shinier and faster and almost feels new again! … ok I really could have installed it anytime in the past few days but I really was waiting for some downtime. Most of the last hour and a half at work was spent watching an episode of Battlestar Galactica by Neil and myself. Rob was throwing a hissy fit since he is nowhere near caught up (see: hasn’t started) so we were forced to leave the room and take up residence in Giles’ office in order to get our TV time in. (A certain person may think I’m lying about this as she prefers to be the sole focus of my attention when she’s bored… *grins*) The last 17 minutes of work I pretty much sat in my chair staring at the phone hoping that no calls would come through on it.. and somehow it worked!
After work was pretty much just watching a few episodes of The Dead Zone… FINALLY beating the third boss in Lost Planet (sooo easy once I figured out what to do that I’m kicking myself about it) and then a game of Catan. Ahh relaxation.
You want the day to fit to a soundtrack.. Get a story get a life and get back
Sunday started off as the Sunday From Hell! Seriously what could go wrong on our slow day right? Well to start with our phone system was down for the first half hour so we had to goto the backup phone system which is near no computers. That was entertaining to run back and forth and have to take multiple calls on phones with no call waiting. So… we get the phone system half assed working with no stats on what is in queue and… we get SLAMMED. Sunday average is 60 calls is high… we had that in the first 2 and a half hours. One of the three branches of stores we support…. 1/4′th of their computers wouldn’t connect to the network. Past that the District users we support. VPN was down (see: no ability to login from home). Web Outlook was down (see: No ability to read e-mail while not at work.) ReportWeb was down (see: no ability to check reports concerning stores.. in or out of the office.) *TWITCH* surprisingly though no servers went down at stores all day which is the ‘usual’ bad call. No complaints on that one
Things finally calmed down around noon. Finally. Thankfully. So I had a bit of time to putz around while I rested before going through my personal queue. One thing you might not know is I’m a huge Bill Murray fan.. well I didn’t used to be but I’ve become one over the past few years as he’s started taking on very… interesting rolls.
So here’s a top 7 Look on his rolls. (Personally I think Lost in Translation should have made the list over Kingpin…)
1. Arthur Denton, Little Shop of Horrors
2. Dr. Peter Venkman, Ghostbusters
3. Bob Wiley, What About Bob
4. Phil Connors, Groundhog Day
5. Ernie McCracken, Kingpin
6. Carl Spackler, Caddyshack
7. Don Johnston, Broken Flowers

Work continued to be slow after this… We did take a few minutes of break time though when the sun came out… we walked out just in time to see about 40 Porsches rolling by down Frontage Rd. It was almost a form of torture to watch really. We came back in and work continued to be slow so we got 3 episodes of Battlestar Galactica in since I finally was able to get a few into work. MMM The addiction is back. (Considering we both left around 5:45.. 45 min after our shifts were over *laughs*)
So after work I took a bit of a nap and met up with Rose go watch 1408. Now I haven’t read the original short story and thats a shame because it was a very tricky movie to really comment on. If I had some basis to comment off of it might help a lot. It wasn’t overly spectacular… however it wasn’t a bad movie.. and it wasn’t just a ‘meh it’s ok’ movie. This is a hard one to write on really. I feel it was worth seeing.. the special effects were top notch for what they had to do.. and there was only really one ‘bad’ scene. What can I say Cusack is good in just about everything he does, suspense included. He did a great job interacting with the room this takes place in and everything that occurs in it. I kind of wish Samuel L. Jackson had a larger roll in the movie though near the end. It was an enjoyable movie.. full of suspense and no real cheap jump out of your chair attempts like so many in current suspense movies. The character development for Cusack was ‘realistic’ as they gave enough of his history for what happens to work without feeling too contrived.
After the movie Rex hit up my cell so we met up with him at Bar Louie for some drinks. It’s apparently becoming the Sunday night thing to do
Talked mainly about movies and gaming. Very relaxing end of the night.. Hopefully the whole moving out thing will let Rex and I hang out more often. While we were leaving though it was entertaining to see the cops get called on a group of Russian kids who were mouthing off. After that watched a couple episodes of The Dead Zone and off to home and sleep so I could wakeup and be at work by noon… well thats what my alarm clock was sent for I actually started at 11.. oops.
