Week of Sloth

Aside from working out.. I’ll be honest.. I’ve been very very lazy since my last update lol. I’ve been playing a lot of SoTN, watched The Da Vinci Code, started Season 6 of 24, started Season 3 of The Sheild, wached the new episode of House, and started a new book in the third series Leah suggested for me. Thats been the bulk of my free time. Now I haven’t been fully lazy mind you. I did feign working a little, paid my bills, spoke with Eric about a few project ideas we’ve been kicking around on the backburner for awhile that he might be interested in working on now that free time is clearing up, and I went to Wildfire with Rose (her treat).

…seriously I’ve been lazy.. no exciting updates, no big things. I’m a bit disappointed with myself honestly ;) We’ll try for better next time! On a humorous note.. for you fellow 24 fans.. My grandparents are now as hooked on the show as my parents, possibly more so. With their expanded free time they may be in competition on who has what series in the near future.

Oh yeah.. the new Chevelle and Static-X CD’s are both highly disappointing, I suggest passing on them. Lots of disappointment this week. That is all. <3

Got Oozey Goodness?

Sooo… my ‘weekend’ is over so heres where things stand ;)

My spreadin of the addiction has continued and my parents have finished Season 1 of 24. This is highly amusing as their sleep schedule is starting to look like mine with 3 to 5 hours of sleep max while they are going through the day. Who would have thought I could have so amazingly ruined their sleep times ;) Wed I basically relaxed most of the day, worked out, had dinner with Jen to catch up on eachother’s lives, and spoke with Peter about BZ and got more information down on it as well. Ended the night watching a few episodes of House, 3 left and I’m up to date on where the series is at right now.

Thursday pretty much started the same way, relaxing to begin with. I cleaned out my new rims from the living room where they have been taking up residence for the past week… they are eagerly awaiting for the cold to fully be gone as they are dying to be mounted on the bimmer. After that I ran over to my grandmother’s for dinner and to fix up her laptop, hurray for being tech support for the family right? ;) Followed that by taking pictures of about 35-40 things that are going to be sold on EBay. Not sure how to finish the night Rose reminded me of something we had seen a week earlier. Which was the grand finale for my ‘weekend’

TMNT!

Yes, that’s right, I ended up seeing the midnight showing of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The person doing the voiceover during the intro and closing was painful… Right as the movie was starting I was already thinking they fucked up another throwback of my childhood. However other then that the cheesey lines which were almost a staple of the show… holy fuck was it entertaining lol. Predictable? Ok a bit.. but Patrick Stewart was a great voice for the villian… the CGI was so amazingly fitting for the style, and the movie was just flat out entertaining. Rose made mention that it reminded her of The Incredibles for quality… ‘cept darker, more realistic, and turtles. They set it up perfectly for a sequal so I have high hopes it does well at the box office. Now when they ruin Transformers later this year I won’t feel so bad since the turtles are still rocking~ Oddly enough I’ve wanted pizza all day ;)

A movie that sucks? First of the year~

So Saturday work was slammed.. again the phone system was down so we had to use the backup which gave me basically a workout all day long. From the cube, to the backup phones, to the cube to fix it. Rince. Repeat. So working around that I decided to be productive and start working on one of my pages. I spent about 5 hours getting together information for what is going to be a huge time sink of a project with unknown but probably low short term potential. It’s more of a long term project that will hopefully lead to a few nice options… however nothing that will be immediatly profitable. Hurray for the attempt though ;)

Sunday was a bit more of the same at work… the phone system was up however the whole thing was quite dull and mind numbing. After work I met up with Rose and we went out to see Dead Silence

Disappointment does not even begin to express how I feel about this movie. By the writer and director of the Saw series I have HUGE expectations… there was actually 2 funny parts to the movie but the rest of it was so bad that I can’t for the life of me recall what made me laugh. I haven’t truely felt that a movie was a waste of money in years… this should stress how bad it was. I’d love to claim I was just spoiled after 300 last week… but that’s honestly just not the case.. the movie was horrible. It was predictable. The acting of main characters wasn’t that bad but the supporting cast was making my head hurt by the end of the movie. After the movie Rose suggested I head back to her place for a few episodes of House to cheer myself up after how bad the movie was. Almost done with Season 2… oh how I love that show… Once I’m fully caught up it’s time to start in on Rome and the current season of 24. Mmmm 24 goodness.

In other movie news: It appears that both Saw 4 and 5 will be in the works. While I can’t see how they could pull this off with Saw 3′s ending… they actually filmed the movie with 4 in mind… soo.. I have yet to be let down by the writers and directors so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. That was my original view on the subject… after Dead Silence though I worry for this series. A “Night of the Living Dorks” movie is being dubbed to English which is of course a spoof of the Zombie Original.. apparently a comedy and has good ratings but we’ll see. Machette from Grindhouse is going to have a straight to DVD movie later this year. Spinoff’s from a movie I haven’t seen yet and I’m actually kind of excited.. let’s hope theres no let down but with the directing duo how could there be? Finally.. theres a BurgerKing .. King.. movie.. being made. I don’t think I need to comment on this… but I will.. I’m actually looking forward to this! Why you ask? What the hell is wrong with you your thinking? Well… Neil and I have a plan.. involviing the said King… so this could end up being a nice little plus in our coart.. Only time will tell. God I’m such a movie nerd these days.

Saturday night burns a redness on my face…

So what have I done since the last update? More watching of House.. and I finished reading The Murder Book… the Kellerman series is just hot.. one of the two Leah originally got me into. Much appreciated on those~ On top of that been working more on organizing upcoming projects.. putting people to work and prepping others to work on things.. hoohah~ I also collected all of the poetry I wrote while at college together into one pile.. I’m considering putting it together and maybe trying to get a book published.. who knows we’ll see.

So… Friday.. my day back at work.. Joe calls out of work because a Skunk found its way into the walls in his house.. sprayed.. and died. So… I got to stay an hour late at work. This just wasn’t acceptable.

smelly cube #1 smelly cube #2

Ok that felt much better, Joe’s cube is now covered in Skunk pictures. Oh how I wish I was at work when he strolled in… *GRINS* They were all down now but I don’t think he saw the ones sitting in his drawers… or his laptop case.. or… lol

Aside from that basically I haven’t done much aside from pickup the ‘rents from the airport.. yes freedom time is over~ I REALLY need to move out.. oh well thats the work in progress

It’s my real weekend.. hurray!
So what’s been happening over the past week? Well for starters I feel like showing off my shiney new toy.

I was looking to pickup two watches, one with a white face and one with a black so it would appear as if I am now half way there, I know what I want for my second watch but I need to justify the purchase ;)

Other then that I’ve finished up on Season 1 of House with Rose, sweetness, as well as watched a pile of movies while at work. What can I say I’m enjoying the ability too while I can ;)

This week’s X-Box live release is something I’ve been waiting a little bit for, thats right,

TMNT: The Arcade Game. Ok yes yes I know it’s still not Symphony of the Night but this is one of the games that stick out in my memory as a classic. So much time and money was spent at arcades and home systems trying to slowly work my way through this game, and with online multiplayer I just can’t wait. I also remember this game actually being challenging and I’m a bit curious as to how I’ll fair after all this time ;)

In misc. areas of my life… I may have gotten a bit of side contract work for my cousin Reed(http://www.reedloar.com).. My ‘rents are still out of town, yay!.. I found one of my old artist friends online (he does some amazing work) and is interested in working together again.. My new rims came in(!!!).. I’ve been working out, dabbling with writing, and looking towards the future. I feel like I need more time in the day… if at the very least more time will allow me to get some sleep in for a change ;)

Just Breathe

If you only face forward, there is something you will miss seeing. It is a virtue to devote oneself to something, firmly believing in one’s own ideals. But that does not mean it’s all right to belittle the ideals or feelings of others. If you lead such a busy life, and you don’t realize how your parents feel, it’s only self-satisfaction. It’s all right to stop every now and again if you want a moment’s rest, if you want to feel what other people feel.” – Trigun / Little Arcadia

Everything is a test.

Ahh Friday (my Monday) How I hate mondays… I don’t get my schedule sometimes for work.. at any rate after forcing myself to sit through work and trying not to get too bored (Watched Jet Li’s Fearless and The Recruit.) It ended up being a movie day it seems since when I got out of work I met up with Neil… we hitup some drinks and munchies at Rock Bottom to talk kill time and talk about some projects then went out to watch 300. Second time around.. STILL an awesome movie….

Ended the night watching 2 episodes of House and passing out for 6 hours of sleep. That seems to be the average these days.. It’s a bit odd not having either too much or too little sleep these days. My schedule isn’t ‘normal’ by any means but it works. That another thing I’m going to have to adjust soon. I’ve never known a normal schedule and it’s going to be a huge change in my life when I have to adapt. Glad I’m good at adjusting to change ;)

Do you live? Do you die? Do you bleed? For the fantasy…

So I had my mid-week weekend finally. Good times as always, sleeping in, working out, reading, watching DVD’s, paying bills, playing video games… so what did I do this ‘weekend’?

Well to start with Wed a goody came out on XBLA. Worms.

Gummy Worms?!

Mmmm good old worms. Theres nothing quite so satisfying as 4×4 worms in a battle to the death with cutesey high pitched voices and an insanely large arsonal. My favorite has always been the sheep bombs. At any rate I spent the few bucks to purchase it and about 5 hours playing it quiting quite well satisfied, my hunger for worm destruction temporarily saited.

On top of this I was able to watch 3-4 episodes of House as well as on Thursday went out with Rose to see the midnight opening of…. 300!

300!

What can I say about 300 ….. The filming was done beautifully. It was a very subtle change on the colors and shadows for the visuals. It made it look old, epic, and almost out of a memory all at the same time. I fully approve of the style with the way it was filmed. On top of that the character development was, for the Spartans done properly, however I was dissapointed with how they did the Persians, or should I say just the “GodKing” as he was the only character that stuck around long enough to work with. They could have done a bit more with him and I was a bit let down on how much he reminded me of Apophis from the Star Gate series instead of being fully original. Don’t get me wrong I thought Apophis was a great villian… in the series… not fully fitting for the movie. If you’ve seen both you’ll instantly know what I’m talking about. Aside from that the Spartans were all developed properly. The fight scenes were quite amazing, my only complaint about them was the blood. Don’t get me wrong, the blood effects looked good. A lot of splurts done just how you would want in full scale action scenes. However after the first fight I noticed something that started to annoy me the rest of the movie. The blood didn’t stay on the ground. I’m not just talking scene to scene either. It’s very video gameesque seeing blood land on the ground and in a few scenes ‘evaporating’ right as you watch them slaughtering the next warrior before them. In a way I could see it fitting but, when I saw it evaporate on screen I was let down. Seriously though my complaints are minor. The movie is a visual orgy of fighting and special effects for the eyes. Anyone who enjoys a good action movie won’t be dissapointed by the eye candy and plot in store for you… Worth seeing on the big screen? Hell I’m probably going again tonight ;)

Aside from that on Thursday it was standard fair aside from having dinner with Jen. We haven’t hung out in awhile and it was a relaxing change of pace catching up on eachother’s lives. Going to have to make a point to hang out with her a bit more often if possible. I also finished up Dead Witch Walking, one of the books Leah suggested. Not as good as the Anita Blake series but similiar and entertaining, was a nice 1 book change that I needed from the Kerllerman series.

It’s not always about winning.
