End Of The Week Roundup: 05/10/17

Life

  • Leah and I put together our new bed frame and re-arranged the bedroom to give us a boatload more room!
  • We tried the new seafood joint that opened near us, “Jimmy’s Island Grille” which was decent (I’d probably still opt for Pappadeaux.)
  • My wonderful, amazing, awesome, beautiful, intelligent, funny, best in the world wife said I could pick *1* Cthulhu themed ‘thing’ for our kidlet. I think she’ll veto the above picture though.
  • This week we fit in not 1 kidlet classes but 2! ‘Childbirth Basis 101′ and ‘Beyond Basics 102′ which will be fun because ‘Baby Care Basics 101′ will actually be next week. Though taking them out of order is probably the only safe way to make sure we get them done before our little bundle of joy shows up.
  • I went out for Mother’s Day with my mother. Mmm Bakersfield

Projects

  • I’ve started the painful all time consuming setting up posts well in advance for when the little Destroyer of Worlds comes.

Media

  • We watched Gangster Squad
  • Finished reading Eaters
  • Finished reading The Great Consumption Episode 1

The Pen Name Book Trailer and Kickstarter

by Stuart Conover on May 15, 2013

This is worth a watch just for the entertainment of the book that Jacob Kier and D.L. Snellunder are putting out as co-authors under the pen name of David Jacob Knight. Yes the book being done under a pen name is being called The Pen Name. It’s already written, they are just trying to snag some more marketing and I believe with the above video and This Kickstarter they are going to have a pretty solid chance of pulling it off.

IT RETURNS AT LAST!

Baby Cthulhu Is Coming!

by Stuart Conover on May 13, 2013

baby-Cthulhu

So my amazing wife said I could pick out *1* Cthulhu based ‘thing’ for our kid and wasn’t really more specific past that on what it could (or couldn’t) be! Over the past year I’ve been increasing obsessed with the madness created by Lovecraft and have been wondering what new ways to bring it into the house (now that I’m temporarily without an office to use shelves to display neat ‘things’) and have been running out of ways.

Until now.

While I’m rather partial to the outfit above I think that may just cross a line. She tolerates my Lovecraft interests but there’s a limit to the amount of horror she lets me indulge in.

So if this one is off the table let’s see what my other potential options are shall we?

The most obvious choice: My First Cthulhu Plush

Our kidlet will already be getting a My First Bacon (Thank you Geekpoints!) so why not a My First Cthulhu to ease our child into a world full of baby causing doom?

my_first_cthulu_plush

Even an elder god was a cute baby once, right?

One of our favorite cartoons of the 80s was “Cthulhu Babies!” Remember all the fun adventures Baby Cthulhu, Baby Nyarlathotep. and all the other babies had? That time they devoured Nanny’s soul and then did a musical number pretending they were characters in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” – priceless. Ah . . . we love remembering memories. Anywho, now you can finally share the abject horror and cuteness of Baby Cthulhu with your kids when you buy My First Cthulhu Plush.

My First Cthulhu Plush is super soft and super huggable. Designed for the young ones (to get them in the cult early), these plush are safety tested for ages 3 and up. That means your wee ones can learn about the Old Ones as soon as they are able to really run away in fear. Full of loves and hugs and power and terror beyond comprehension, My First Cthulhu Plush want to come home with you today!

Second runner up would be the Cthulhu Nom Onsie!

The never ending appetite for human souls that Cthulhu suffers from could also be thought of as the never ending appetite for destruction caused by babies and kids everywhere. Maybe in that case another option would be to focus on something to wear to show exactly how destructive our child may prove to be? This onesie over from Etsy might be just what the doctor ordered!

Cthulhu-nom

Does your little monster love to sleep and eat? He has quite a bit in common with Cutie Cthulhu!

This image is printed in GREEN on a short sleeved WHITE 100% cotton Gerber baby one piece with three metal snaps.

More Cthuluhu Onsie Madness!

Sticking with the Onsie idea there is also a Baby Cthulhu onsie from Red Bubble

baby-Cthulhu-onsie

The fearsome Cthulhu, denizen of the deep! Cuter and rounder than it’s namesake, this little Baby Cthulhu can now scare off evil doers everywhere you go!

So those are the 3 top picks for me on what Cthulhu item to get for our impending Babypocalypse. It’s under a month away from happening so we’ll see which ends up being chosen!

All I can really say here is that Patrick Moberg is a genius in his view on lessons we can learn from our canine friends. Cute, touching, awesome.

So Alexandria Law has a little side projects based on the idea that Little girls are better at designing super heroes than you. Kind of a cute idea. The entire concept?

Kids are more impressionable than you, but kids can also be less restricted by cultural gender norms than you. Kids are more creative than you, and they’re better at making superheroes than you.

This is a mini art project where I draw superheroes based on the costumes worn by little girls.

The Cost of Being Iron Man 3 Infographic

by Stuart Conover on April 23, 2013

the-cost-of-being-iron-man-3

People say money can’t buy happyness. If you think having a suit that can make you fly and take on an enemy army all while making you a nearly indestructible super hero well you’d agree with Tony Stark that that statement is clearly wrong.

Neither Batman nor Iron Man has a super-power, but they do have the power that comes with having billions of dollars, and owning companies that develop top secret tech for the military.

Following the release of Iron Man 2 we calculated the Cost of Being Iron Man at a staggering $1.6 billion, and since then Tony Stark’s been very busy constructing at least 36 new suits. If you thought fulfilling your dream of being Iron Man was out of reach at $1.6 billion, it’s now six times that!

However, Iron Man will be prepared for every eventuality – rumour has it that Stark’s new selection of armour includes an offensive artillery suit, a disaster rescue suit, a stealth suit, a heavy lifting suit and even one capable of flying in space – handy for meeting other galactic heroes for future movie releases…

In Iron Man 3 we also see Stark in a new electric super-car and if the trailer’s anything to go by, he’s going to be in the market for some home improvements, or maybe even a complete re-build of his Malibu mansion. With Stark Industries worth approximately $20 billion, Tony Stark won’t need a loan any time soon, but if you are looking to purchase a new car, start a DIY project or even fund a jet-powered, gold-titanium exoskeleton suit you’ll find all the best finance deals at MoneySupermarket.

Iron Man 3 is released on April 25, and we can’t wait!
